The short answer
In DFW, paint and household chemicals go to a household hazardous waste program: the Dallas County center at 11234 Plano Rd, Fort Worth's Environmental Collection Center at 6400 Bridge St, or a city pickup program. Mattresses and tires can go in our dumpsters for $50 each.

What about tires?
Texas does not allow whole tires in municipal landfills unless processed, and scrap tires follow TCEQ rules. Many cities and counties hold tire collection events, and we accept tires in the dumpster for $50 each.
What about car batteries?
Texas requires lead-acid battery sellers to take old batteries back when you buy a new one, and most auto-parts stores accept them. Batteries are never allowed in a dumpster.
