How much space does a roll-off dumpster need?

A roll-off dumpster needs a level spot as long as the bin (12 to 22 feet) and about 8 feet wide. The truck typically needs about 60 feet of straight approach in line with the spot and about 23 feet of overhead clearance for the lift. Plan for the truck as well as the bin.

30-yard22 × 8 ft6 ft
40-yard22 × 7.5 ft8 ft
Truck clearance figures are typical for roll-off trucks; we confirm your spot by phone.

How do you protect my driveway?

We protect your driveway by placing structural wooden boards under the dumpster's metal rollers and rails before it touches down. The boards spread the load so concrete and asphalt don't crack or scratch. Our driver also confirms the exact spot with you by text or call 20 to 30 minutes before arrival.

Keep the bin off septic lids, sprinkler heads, soft lawn and concrete poured in the last few weeks.

What causes a failed delivery, and what does it cost?

A failed delivery, called a dry run, happens when the driver can't drop or pick up the dumpster because of parked cars, low wires, branches or a locked gate. A dry run costs $125. Clearing the spot the night before avoids it.

Deliveries happen between 7 AM and 5 PM. Book by 3 PM for next-day delivery.

Do I need a permit for a dumpster on the street?

A dumpster on a private driveway usually needs no city permit, but a dumpster on a public street, alley or sidewalk often does, and some cities only allow franchise haulers. HOAs can add their own limits on days or screening. Check your city page and your HOA rules.

Find your city's permit and hauler rules. Permit rules change; confirm with your city before street placement.

Placement questions

Will a dumpster damage my driveway?

Our drivers place structural wooden boards under the dumpster's steel rollers and rails to spread the weight and prevent cracking or scratching on concrete and asphalt.

Can a dumpster go on the street?

Many North Texas cities require a right-of-way permit or approval for a dumpster on a street or alley, and some limit roll-offs to franchise haulers. Check your city's page in our service areas before you choose street placement.

Do I need to be home for delivery?

You do not need to be home if the drop zone is clear and marked. The driver texts or calls 20–30 minutes before arrival to confirm placement.

Can a dumpster go on my lawn?

Lawn placement is risky: soft or wet ground can rut, and heavy loads can sink. Firm, level concrete or asphalt is best; keep the bin off septic lids and sprinkler heads.
